NodeMCU Projects

This section covers electronics projects based on NodeMCU ESP8266 board. The NodeMCU is basically an open source firmware, and also commonly used term for the popular ESP8266 Development Board, which is a low cost, development board designed for IoT applications.

In previous tutorials we have seen How we can build an Amazon Echo Speaker and then how can we control any Raspberry Pi GPIO using Alexa Voice. Now we are making an IoT project to control home appliances from anywhere in the world using AlexaPi and ESP-12E (or any ESP board).

We all know about Electricity energy meters which are installed in everyone’s house or offices to measure the electricity consumption. At last of every month, many of us get worried about the high electricity bill and we have to look at the energy meter once in a while. But what if we can monitor our electricity uses from anywhere in the world and get an SMS/E-mail when your…

GPS stands for Global Positioning System and it is used to find out location, altitude, speed, date and time in UTC. In this project we are going to interface a GPS module with NodeMCU. A simple local web server is created using NodeMCU and the location details are updated in that server webpage. Specialty of this IoT based project is we can check the location in Goolge Maps…

In the previous tutorial, we have made RTC clock using DS3231 and ESP32. To minimize hardware requirements we will make Internet clock without using RTC module. This is more accurate as compare to RTC clock. ESP32 is a Wi-Fi module and can be easily connected to the internet so we will use NTP (Network Time Protocol) and UDP (User Datagram Protocol) to fetch Time from the…

In this tutorial, we will learn about Real Time Clock (RTC) and its interfacing with the ESP32 and OLED display.

We will use the DS3231 RTC module to keep track of the correct time and display it on the SPI OLED by using ESP32 as our microcontroller. ESP32 is more than a microcontroller. It has a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip inside it and 39 GPIO pins.…

In previous Getting start with NodeMCU tutorial, we saw What is NodeMCU and how we can program it using Arduino IDE. As you know NodeMCU has Wi-Fi chip inside so, it can also connect to internet. It is very useful to build IoT Projects. We previously used ThingSpeak with Arduino to make IoT thermometer, but here we will create our own webpage to display temperature.…

In this tutorial we will see how to interface NodeMCU with 16x2 LCD without using I2C communication. Here we will interface 16x2 LCD using shift register SN74HC595. We can also interface it even without using any shift register. We will see both kinds of interfacings in this tutorial. Main difference between both interfacings is the number of pins used in NodeMCU.

In this tutorial, we will learn about ESP-12 Wi-Fi module and how to program it using Arduino IDE. Then we will write a program to blink an LED with ESP8266-12.

What is ESP8266 and NodeMCU?

Most people call ESP8266 as a WIFI module, but it is actually a microcontroller. ESP8266 is the name of the microcontroller…

The internet has reached almost every pocket through smartphones. It is estimated that approximately 3.2 billion people use the internet; however, a surprising 8.4 billion devices also utilise the internet. ESP32 Arduino IDE is emerging as the most popular development combination for IoT projects. Electronic devices are connected to the internet more than twice the…
