Optocouplers in Space-Saving DIP-4 and SMD-4 Packages Offer 800 V Off-State Voltage for High Robustness and Noise Isolation

Vishay Intertechnology has added two new series of optocouplers  VOT8024A and VOT8121A with phototriac output in space-saving compact DIP-4 and SMD-4 packages. The series features a high off‑state voltage of 800 V and dV/dt of 1000 V/μs, delivering high robustness and noise isolation for home appliances and industrial equipment. The Optocouplers isolate low voltage logic from 120 VAC, 240 VAC, and 380 VAC lines to control resistive, inductive, or capacitive loads, including motors, solenoids, high current thyristors, or TRIACs and relays.

While still maintaining enough voltage headroom for three-phase applications, the series enhance safety margins in one-phase applications with its high off-state voltages. The new optocouplers offer a withstanding isolation voltage of 5000 VRMS for additional safety and for easy interface with digital logic, the series VOT8024A features low trigger currents of 5mA and VOT8121A features 10mA current. The optocouplers are RoHS-compliant and it is ideal for applications such as power TRIAC drivers in solid-state relays, three-phase air conditioners, boilers, thermostats, industrial motor control, and power line switching, and motor, lamp and valve control in household appliances.
