AL8843Q and AL8862Q Automotive Compliant Buck LED Drivers

Diodes Incorporated has introduced the AL8843Q and AL8862Q, automotive-compliant DC-DC buck converters for driving single LEDs and multiple LED strings in and around vehicles. They are best suitable for applications such as daytime running lights (DRL) as well as fog lights, turn lights and brake/stoplights. Their wide operating voltage range allows the devices to withstand even severe voltage variations like load dumps that occur during low crank or stop-start operation, without suffering any corresponding degradation in the LED drive current.

  • Output Current up to 1A
  • Integrated power MOSFET of 55V/0.2Ω
  • Internal 55V NDMOS Switch
  • Typically 4% Output Current Accuracy
  • High efficiency (Up to 97%)
  • LED Short Protection, Inherent Open Circuit LED Protection, Current-Sense Resistor Short Circuit Protection, Over Temperature Shutdown.
  • Incorporates an open-drain fault indication pin, which is asserted low to report faulty conditions

 

These devices also feature hysteretic-mode bus LED driver control to simplify the feedback loop, enabling engineers to realize high stable buck converter designs using just four external components. Both the devices support full-scale PWM dimming controlled with either an analog input between 0.4V and 2.5V or a PWM signal generated by an external microcontroller or host processor.
