 MLX81130 OLED Controller

MLX81130 from Melexis is a programmable, multi-channel OLED controller that drives up to 25 static and animated interior/exterior lights. Designed to support ASIL B system integration, this new OLED controller in a QFN 5x5 package features programmable constant current sources and operates in single-master, multiple-slave configurations. Suitable for Rear Combination Lamps (RCL) or small OLED displays, the highly integrated intelligent controller supports the Melexis Light Bus (MeLiBu) interface and allows simpler static and animated lighting system development. This OLED controller integrates all the active components needed to realize combined point (LED) and area (OLED) lighting applications inside and outside the vehicle. This enables automotive manufacturers to realize value-added exterior lighting features in a cost-effective manner.

With independently programmable outputs that can drive both LEDs and OLEDs, the MLX81130 OLED controller  enables easy integration into the entire sub-systems. Each controller has the ability to drive up to 25 independent LEDs or 8 RGB LEDs and supports the extended threshold range needed by OLEDs.

The constant current output of the controller is controlled through the integrated 16-bit MLX16 FX pipelined microcontroller, supported by a 32-bit math co-processor and 32 KB of Flash. Besides, the device comes with two watchdog timers with independent clocks and a 10-bit ADC and the outputs can be controlled via PWM. These output currents are programmable in steps of 1mA between 0mA and 15mA, then 2mA steps up to 30mA per output, responding to the market's needs. Bridging multiple MLX81130 outputs can lead to more output current.
