RRP Electronics has entered an agreement to purchase a silicon wafer production line from Singapore-based PTW. The deal includes the transfer of process and technology knowledge. This strategic move aims to establish India’s first major wafer production facility and reduce the country’s reliance on imported electronics components. The agreement marks a notable collaboration between local industry and international technology providers.

RRP Electronics expects to complete the purchase by the end of this year and begin pilot production in 2025-26. The company plans to scale operations to full capacity within the following two years. At full production, the facility is projected to generate over $1.2 billion in revenue with a gross profit margin exceeding 60 percent, based on current market benchmarks.

PTW, established in 2015 and headquartered in Singapore is a recognized provider of semiconductor solutions and refurbishment services. With 14 subsidiaries and approval from over 650 semiconductor fabs worldwide, the company has built a strong reputation in front-end semiconductor tool refurbishment. PTW is focused on entering the Indian market with a clear strategy and established expertise in process technology transfer.

Advised by TOP2 Consulting, the partnership underscores a practical approach to advancing India’s semiconductor capabilities. PTW plans to sell two additional wafer lines to Indian customers within the next one to two years. The initiative is expected to support local manufacturing efforts and align with national objectives to boost self-reliance in electronics production.
