Dual-Band GNSS Module Supports L1 and L5 Bands for Satellites

Quectel Wireless Solutions released a compact dual-band GNSS module LC79D with support of L1 and L5 bands for satellites which will greatly improve positioning accuracy. The LC79D features concurrent multi-constellation GNSS receivers on dual GNSS bands and can work on L1 and L5 bands for GPS, Galileo and QZSS satellites, L1 band for GLONASS and BeiDou satellites as well as L5 band for IRNSS satellite. The module features a small and compact size of just 10.1mm×9.7mm×2.4mm which helps designers to optimize space and make PCB smaller.

The LC79D dual-band GNSS module can increase the number of visible satellites as compared with the GNSS modules working on L1 band only which significantly improves positioning drifting when driving in rough urban canyons and enhance positioning accuracy. The module is able to achieve higher sensitivity and reliable anti-jamming capability if embedded with LNA and multi-tone active interference which further helps in exceptional acquisition and tracking performance even in weak signal areas.

The LC79D dual-band GNSS module features multiple communication interfaces including UART and SPI which helps customers in simplified product designs and accelerates time-to-market at reduced costs. The compact size, low power consumption and high performance make it a perfect fit for vehicle, people and asset tracking as well as sharing economy applications.
