MSP430 Projects

The below list consist of a collection of MSP430 Projects. The MSP430 LaunchPad from Texas instruments is a microcontroller development platform that can be used by engineers to program the MSP430 series microcontrollers. The LaunchPad can be programmed using Code composer studio (CCS) or few other software like Energia IDE which helps you to easily get started with TI Microcontrollers. All projects are documented with circuit diagram, code and hardware demonstration videos.

We are moving towards the World of Internet of Things (IoT), a technology which is going to play a very important role in the consumer and industrial electronics. Sending an Email from any Microcontroller or Embedded system is one of the very basic thing which is required in IoT. Here we create a demo IoT project where we use ESP8266 and MSP430 Launchpad…

In this tutorial we will make a Digital Clock by interfacing RTC module DS3231 with MSP430 and display the time and date on 16x2 LCD. The MSP-EXP430G2 is a Development Tool a.k.a LaunchPad provided by the Texas Instruments to learn and practice on how to use their Microcontrollers. This board falls under the MSP430 Value Line category where we can…

While a lot of wireless technologies have been introduced in past decade, but Bluetooth is still the most popular tech for short range wireless communication. In embedded systems HC-05/06 is the most popular Bluetooth Module. We previously used this Bluetooth module in many projects to control home appliances, robots etc and interfaced it with other microcontroller:

This is the second tutorial of a sequence of tutorial in which we are learning the MSP430G2 LaunchPad from Texas Instruments using the Energia IDE. In the last Blinky LED tutorial we introduced our self to the LaunchPad Development Board and the Energia IDE, we also uploaded our first program which is to blink the on board LED at a regular interval.

This is the third tutorial in the sequence of tutorials in which we are learning to program the MSP430G2 LaunchPad using the Energia IDE. In our previous tutorial, we learned how to control the Digital Input and Output pins on our MSP board. In this tutorial, we will learn how to interface an LCD with the board so that we can display useful information.

In previous tutorials, we have learned about How to interface GPS module with Computer and how to Track vehicle using GSM and GPS. We also built Vehicle Accident Alert System using Arduino and accelerometer. Here we are again building the same project but this time a MSP430 launchpad and a vibration sensor will be used to detect vehicle accident. So this…

This article is the continuation of our tutorial series on programming MSP430 using Code Composer Studio. Last tutorial was based on external interrupts on MSP430 using GPIO pins. This tutorial is about interfacing a display with MSP430, when it comes to display the 16*2 LCD Display, it is the first choice for any electronic hobbyist.…

Consider a simple digital watch which is programmed to just show you time, now imagine you want to change its time zone. What would you do? You simply press a button that changes to the menu that enables you to change the time zone. Here, the system can’t predict your external interrupt to its time keeping processes and can’t ask you to wait since it is busy incrementing the…

Motion detection is an essential part of security systems and PIR sensor is one of the most commonly used sensor for trigging the alarms when motion is detected. This sensor can detect human/animal movements easily by sensing the IR rays emitted by them. We previously used PIR sensor to build various kind of alarms and security systems:

PIR Sensor and GSM Based…

This tutorial is a part of series of MSP430G2 LaunchPad tutorials in which we are learning to use the MSP430G2 LaunchPad from Texas Instruments. So far we have learnt the basics of the board and have covered how to read analog voltage, interface LCD with MSP430G2 etc. Now we proceed with the next step of learning about PWM in MSP430G2. We will do that by controlling the…

Line follower robot is one of the popular robotics projects among students and beginners because of its simplicity. It follows a line, either black or white, depending on how you program your microcontroller. Here we make a line follower robot using MSP430 launchpad from Texas Instruments, which follows the black line. If you are new to MSP430 launchpad, …

MSP430 is a powerful platform provided by Texas Instruments for embedded projects, its versatile nature has made it to find ways into many applications and the phase is still going. If you have been following our MSP430 tutorials then you would have noticed we have already covered wide a range of tutorials on this microcontroller starting from the very basics.…
