Terms and Conditions for Contest - World Energy Challenge 2023

1. Eligibility: 

  1. The World Energy Challenge 2023 (the "Contest") is open to individuals and teams from India and ASEAN countries.  
  2. Employees, contractors, and immediate family members of the organizing committee, sponsors, and affiliated organizations are not eligible to participate. 
  3. Participants must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

2. Contest Overview: 

  1. The Contest aims to encourage innovative ideas and solutions for sustainable energy and address global energy challenges. 
  2. Participants must submit their entries in accordance with the guidelines provided on the official Contest website. 
  3. Entries must be original works of the participants and must not infringe upon any intellectual property rights or violate any third-party agreements. 
  4. By participating in the Contest, participants grant the organizing committee (“Semicon Media Pvt Ltd”) and DigiKey the right to use, modify, and publish their submissions for promotional purposes.

3. Submission Guidelines: 

  1. Participants must submit their entries electronically through the official Contest website within the specified submission period. 
  2. Entries must be in English and include a detailed description of the proposed solution, supporting materials (firmware, PCB Design, working video etc), and any relevant data or research. 
  3. Entries must be in a format specified by the organizing committee on the submission page (e.g., PDF, Word document, or online form). 
  4. Late or incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

4. Evaluation and Judging: 

  1. Entries will be evaluated based on their innovation, feasibility, potential impact, scalability, and alignment with sustainable energy goals. 
  2. A panel of judges, consisting of experts in the energy industry, will review and score the submissions.
  3. The judging process will be fair and impartial, and the decisions of the judges will be final. 
  4. Winners will be announced publicly on the official Contest website and will be contacted via email or other means of communication.

5. Prizes: 

  1. The Contest will offer prizes to the top-performing participants or teams, as determined by the organizing committee. 
  2. Prize details, including the number of winners and the nature of the prizes, are specified on the official Contest website. 
  3. Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for alternative rewards. 
  4. Participants are responsible for any taxes or additional costs associated with receiving the prizes.

6. Rights and Ownership: 

  1. Participants retain the intellectual property rights to their submissions. 
  2. However, by submitting their entries, participants grant the organizing committee and DigiKey a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and publish their submissions for promotional and educational purposes. 
  3. All entries, including - ideas, creatives, proposals, schematics, videos, and any accompanying materials, submitted to the World Energy Challenge 2023 ("Contest") shall become the exclusive property of DigiKey.

7. Limitation of Liability: 

  1. The organizing committee, sponsors, and affiliated organizations will not be held responsible for any loss, damage, or injury incurred by participants during the Contest. 
  2. Participants are solely responsible for their submissions and any consequences arising from the use or implementation of their proposed solutions.

8. Disqualification and Termination:

  1. The organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant or entry that violates these terms and conditions or engages in fraudulent or unethical behaviour. 
  2. Participants found to have plagiarized or infringed upon the intellectual property rights of others will be immediately disqualified. 
  3. The organizing committee may terminate or suspend the Contest at any time and for any reason without prior notice. In such cases, participants will be notified and provided with any relevant information regarding the termination or suspension.

9. Modification of Terms: 

  1. The organizing committee reserves the right to modify, update, or change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. 
  2. Participants are encouraged to regularly review the official Contest website for any updates or changes to the terms and conditions.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction: 

  1. These terms and conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Jaipur jurisdiction (Rajasthan, India). 
  2. Any disputes arising from or in connection with the Contest will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the aforementioned jurisdiction.

11. Severability: 

  1. If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

12. Entire Agreement: 

  1. These terms and conditions constitute the entire agreement between the participants and the organizing committee regarding the Contest and supersede any prior agreements or understandings, whether written or verbal.
