Vishay Intertechnology has introduced the TSM41 series of industrial-grade, multi-turn surface-mount cermet trimmers. They are designed to fit constrained applications and work in harsh environments, with a 4 mm by 4 mm size, -55 °C to +140 °C range, and IP67 sealing. They occupy less space on a circuit board compared to older versions, as the case is 42% smaller.
The range of resistance is 10 Ω to 1 MΩ, and adjustment is faster than single-turn trimmers. They have a 0.25 W power rating at +85 °C and come in versions that can be adjusted from the top or side. Mounting can be done directly to PCBs, allowing the automation of assembly and adjustments. They can be used on both sides of a PCB, possibly speeding up production and cutting costs.
Being fully sealed for board washing, they can be used in welding gear, power tools, smoke detectors, and HVAC systems. Samples and full production units are ready for order, with 15-week lead times.
