Kerala-based semiconductor startup Netrasemi has successfully raised INR 10 crore in a pre-Series A funding round led by Unicorn India Ventures. Established in 2020 by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejith Varma and Deepa Geetha, the startup focuses on building advanced system-on-chip (SoC) solutions designed for the growing needs of Edge AI applications in smart Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The funds will be used to fabricate two advanced SoCs, Netra A2000 and Netra R1000, which are aimed at simplifying and enhancing AI and machine learning (ML) use cases across industries such as robotics, surveillance and smart infrastructure.

Netrasemi’s SoCs are designed to enable IoT devices to process complex AI-based analytics locally without relying on cloud servers. This innovative approach ensures faster, more secure and cost-effective performance for smart devices. Their solutions cater to over 100 different AI and ML use cases, making product development more efficient. These advancements can be used in various fields including medical devices, telecommunications, industrial automation and even defense. With a team of 61 skilled professionals, Netrasemi has already generated significant revenue of $0.75 million and expects exponential growth in the future, driven by both chip design services and patent income.

Anil Joshi, Managing Partner at Unicorn India Ventures, expressed confidence in Netrasemi’s ability to drive transformative change in the Edge AI market. He highlighted the company’s innovative chip designs as key to addressing the challenges in privacy-focused security and smart infrastructure systems. Co-founder Jyothis Indirabhai shared that the in-house developed SoCs mark a significant milestone for India, as they represent the first AI/ML SoCs designed for intelligent edge devices. These advancements align with the country’s ambitions to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem. With this strategic funding, Netrasemi is set to expand its operations and meet the growing demand for Edge AI solutions globally.
