DLPC8445 Display Controller

Texas Instruments has unveiled the DLPC8445 display controller, setting a new standard for 4K ultra-high-definition (UHD) projectors with its compact size and advanced features. At just 9mm by 9mm, the DLPC8445 is the smallest display controller of its kind, enabling the creation of projectors that can deliver stunning 100-inch diagonal displays with ultra-low latency. When paired with TI’s DLP472TP digital micromirror device (DMD) and the DLPA3085 power-management integrated circuit (PMIC) with LED driver, this new controller allows for high-quality, high-performance projection systems that rival the display experiences of high-end televisions and gaming monitors, all within a compact form factor.

The DLPC8445 controller introduces variable refresh rate (VRR) support, a first for DLP chipsets, which enhances gaming and video experiences by synchronizing frame rates and eliminating issues such as lag, image tearing, and stuttering. This capability, combined with advanced image-correction features that adjust for surface imperfections, ensures a superior viewing experience in any environment. Additionally, the DLPC8445 is the first DLP controller designed for use with laser-illuminated, battery-powered projectors, offering unprecedented flexibility and performance for portable and high-quality projection applications.
