The new facility, located in Surat, will have feature Class 10k and 100k cleanroom facilities in its Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) plant covering 30,000 square feet. What's more, the high-tech will have the capacity to produce up to 30 lakh chips per day, marking a massive leap forward for India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
The interesting news is that this plant will be the Gujarat's first of its kind and set to commence semiconductor production in November. The project will be executed in five phases, with the initial phase kicking off in November, focused on manufacturing chips for legacy devices. With investments planned over the next three to five years, Suchi Semicon is clearly in it for the long haul.
The company isn’t just bringing cutting-edge tech to Surat—it’s also driving local growth. Suchi Semicon has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to support employment creation and economic growth as part of its larger goal. The facility is expected to provide up to 1,200 employment opportunities and concentrate on providing advanced semiconductor assembly and testing units in India. The company has partnered with Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat, and Gujarat Technological University to cultivate a proficient workforce for the industry.
And here’s where it gets even better: Suchi Semicon has applied for the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) approval, which could net them a 50% subsidy on capital expenditure. This partnership between government and industry is a game-changer, setting the stage for India to become a powerhouse in the global semiconductor arena.
