New SiWx917Y Modules with Global RF Certifications and Enhanced Security for IoT Devices

Silicon Labs has introduced the SiWx917Y, an ultra-low-power module designed for secure and efficient wireless connectivity, integrating Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) 5.4. The module simplifies the development and certification process for Wi-Fi 6 devices by offering advanced security, robust wireless performance, and a full-featured application processor. The SiWx917Y modules are particularly suited for smart home devices, building automation, healthcare applications, industrial sensors, and asset tracking.

The SiWx917Y modules incorporate advanced features such as intelligent power management, enabling connected sleep mode with a current as low as 20μA and a 60-second keep-alive interval. The dual-core architecture includes an ARM Cortex-M4 application processor and a wireless network processor, ensuring efficient task handling. These modules are pre-certified for global regulatory standards and include an integrated antenna, eliminating the need for lengthy RF optimization. Measuring just 16 x 21 x 2.3 mm, the compact design facilitates integration into space-constrained devices.

The module supports the Matter protocol for seamless IoT device interoperability. It offers two operational modes: Wireless MCU mode (SiWG917Y) for executing applications on the module and NCP mode (SiWN917Y) for managing communication functions while applications run on a separate MCU. With large memory and extensive peripherals, the module also supports advanced edge processing capabilities.
