Unitree Robotics has introduced the A2. It’s an actual industrial-grade quadruped robot that can carry heavy loads and work in various scenarios. The robot has a dual battery system, and the hot-swappable design allows the swapping of batteries without having to turn it off. While the battery is installed, the robot weighs 37kg and can walk for 3 hours (12.5km) carrying 25kg of load. Without any extra weight, it lasts for up to 5 hours (20km).
The A2 works in temperatures from -20°C to 55°C and is powered by two 9000mAh batteries. Low-inertia inner rotor PMSMs drive A2’s high-precision joints with a maximum joint torque of 180 N·m. With no blind spots, it can “see” in front and back using two industrial-grade LiDAR sensors, an HD camera, and a front light. Wheels can be added to its legs to adapt performance in different environments. Using aluminum alloy and high-strength engineering plastic helps make it durable while also keeping it light. It can climb 45° slopes, step over 30cm obstacles, and move as fast as 5 meters per second.
On the inside, the A2 has an 8-core high-performance CPU and an Intel Core i7. It has various connection ports, including RS-485, CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB 3.0 Type-C ports. Wireless connections are achieved through Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Also, there are optional modules for GPS, 4G, and vector-following. A2 supports OTA(Over-The-Air) upgrades, users can build on it, and it comes with a 1-year warranty. Unitree cautions users to stay safe around the robot and not engage in making any risky changes to it.
