STMicroelectronics STM32WBA6 MCUs: Secure, Low-Power, Multi-Protocol Wireless for IoT

STMicroelectronics has unveiled its next-generation STM32WBA6 wireless microcontrollers (MCUs), designed to make it easier for consumer and industrial devices to connect to the IoT. These new MCUs offer enhanced memory, advanced security features, and support for multiple protocols, all while maintaining energy efficiency.

The STM32WBA6 series is ideal for smart home devices, wearable health monitors, electronic locks, and industrial sensors. It features up to 2MB of Flash and 512KB of RAM, allowing it to handle more complex applications. The built-in wireless subsystem supports Bluetooth, Zigbee, Thread, and Matter, making it easy for devices to communicate across different networks.

STM32WBA6 series ensure that IoT devices using them will be better protected against cyber threats, keeping data and connections safe. For strong and reliable wireless connectivity, they offer improved sensitivity (-100dBm), making sure devices stay connected even over long distances. Additionally, with fast USB and multiple communication options (SPI, I2C, UART), developers have plenty of flexibility to build smarter, more connected devices.

Powered by the Arm Cortex-M33 core running at 100MHz, these MCUs offer a great balance of performance and energy efficiency. They also come in tiny package sizes, including the WLCSP88 ( 3.78mm x 3.46mm), making them perfect for compact, next-gen devices.

By combining processing, security, and wireless connectivity in one chip, STMicroelectronics is making it easier for developers to create smaller, smarter, and more secure IoT devices.
