A new breadboard-friendly power supply called ProtoV MINI has been announced and is expected to launch soon. Roughly the size of a credit card, the device is designed to plug directly into a standard breadboard and power both rails independently using a single USB Type-C input. Each channel can be adjusted up to 20 V with fine digital control and includes current limiting and built-in protection.
The unit also measures voltage, current, and power in real time, giving users a clear view of what their circuits are actually drawing. ProtoV MINI is aimed at makers, students, and engineers who want bench-supply features without a bulky bench setup. A small color LCD and physical buttons allow on-device control, while USB-C Power Delivery enables it to run from common wall adapters or power banks.
The device is built around the RP2040 microcontroller and supports USB communication for data logging and computer control. Its designers have stated that both the hardware and firmware will be released as open source, with documentation and software tools shared as development progresses.
