Mave Health, a Bengaluru-based healthtech startup, raised $2.1 Mn in a seed round led by Blume Ventures. Founded in 2023 by Dhawal Jain, Jai Sharma, and Aman Kumar, the company makes headsets based on transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) that help with focus, mood, and stress regulation. The raised capital is to go towards ramping up their manufacturing capabilities and launching these headsets in the Indian and US markets.
The technology behind the headset is quite interesting. When you feel down, anxious, or just off, beyond triggers like overthinking or boredom, there’s something very tangible that’s responsible. It’s neurons firing signals in your head. tDCS is the technique of nudging those signals from the outside with electricity. Mave’s headset sits on your forehead and sends 1-2 mA of current to strengthen your prefrontal cortex. According to the company, just wearing it for 20 minutes can improve how you feel, with no reported side effects.
It's worth noting that tDCS has been studied for decades and is backed by substantial research. Early users have reported finding the headset helpful, and if you’re curious to try it yourself, the device is available for pre-order on the company’s website at around 30,000 rupees.
