trouble with pin fitment

i have a 24 pin dip socket 2.54mm sockets and header pins 2.54mm will not fit. i am trying to insert an arduino micro into it

DIP socket is for IC chip not pin headers IC chip legs are thin headers are to thick you need a breakout board/hat or dupont wires to connect to whatever you are connecting.
