Microchip's New dsPIC33A Controllers Offer Enhanced Real-Time Control and Precision

Microchip Technology has launched the dsPIC33A Core family of Digital Signal Controllers (DSCs), designed for complex embedded control algorithms in motor control, power supply, charging, and sensing systems. Featuring a 32-bit CPU with a 200 MHz speed, the dsPIC33A includes a Double-Precision Floating-Point Unit and DSP instructions for precise real-time control. Enhanced math and data processing, higher code efficiency, faster context switching, and reduced latency ensure quick response times to critical events. The controllers also feature new high-resolution PWMs for motor control and digital power conversion, supporting automotive, industrial, consumer, E-Mobility, data center, and sustainable solutions markets. The initial dsPIC33AK128MC1xx DSCs offer 128 KB Flash and a comprehensive peripheral set.

The dsPIC33A family integrates 12-bit ADCs (up to 40 Msps), high-speed comparators, and operational amplifiers for advanced sensing and control. Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) enable peripheral interaction without CPU involvement, optimizing task management and preserving CPU bandwidth for software, safety diagnostics, and security functions. Security features include Flash security, Immutable Root of Trust, secure debugging, and restricted memory access. The Instruction Set Architecture (ISA) supports model-based code generation. The dsPIC33A DSCs are ideal for motor control, digital power conversion, and sensor interfacing in industrial and automotive applications.
