Microchip Technology introduces a new PCI100x family of Switchtec PCIe Gen 4.0 switches, to meet the needs of high-bandwidth data transfer for device communication. It will be useful for the automotive, industrial, and data center systems for more seamless communication.
The PCI1005 expands a single PCIe port up to 8 endpoints, and the PCI1003 comes with a multi-host switch with Non-Transparent Bridging (NTB), which expands up to 4 to 8 ports. These switches are compliant with PCI-SIG Gen5 specifications and offer a speed of up to 16GT/s with high-speed Direct Memory Access (DMA) on all models.
The PCI100x family of switches offers high reliability and performance by incorporating features like Automatic Error Reporting (AER), Downstream Port Containment (DPC), and Completion Timeout Synthesis (CTS) to ensure smoother and more efficient communication.
Additionally, the PCI100x devices are built to withstand a variety of environments, from temperatures that include commercial (0°C to +70°C), industrial (−40°C to +85°C), and automotive grade 2 (−40°C to +105°C) ratings, to ensure the best performance across different conditions. This will allow the designers to create more energy-efficient systems with precise control and flexibility, especially in data centers, GPU servers, automotive systems, and industrial computing.
The PCI1005 and PCI1003 switches are now available in limited sample quantities. Pricing for the PCI1005 commercial variant is $43 each in 1,000-unit quantities.
