Lenskart Invests in Ajna Lens for Smart Glasses Development

Lenskart has invested in Ajna Lens, a Mumbai-based deep-tech startup. Founded in 2014, Ajna Lens builds AI-powered XR (Extended Reality) glasses. The combination of tech they use includes spatial computing, AI vision, and XR stack. Their customers include enterprise, education, and defence sectors for whom they create immersive tools for use cases like virtual training, simulations, and education.

The company’s mixed-reality headset, called AjnaXR, helped it bag the CES Innovation Award in 2023. Lenskart plans on combining its design and engineering expertise with Ajna Lens’s tech and, as a result, build smart glasses that are functional, stylish, and affordable to the general public. It previously launched a smart glasses product called Phonic, a type of audio smart glasses that lets users listen to audio without having to reach for their earbuds.

On June 6, 2025, Lenskart became a public limited company and is reportedly planning a $1 billion IPO at a $10 billion valuation, which is twice its last known valuation of $5 billion in 2024. In June 2024, the company raised $200 million in a secondary round. Major investors included Temasek and Fidelity. Manufacturing 25 million frames and 30-40 million lenses annually, the company runs over 2,500 stores across India and Southeast Asia.
