A young semiconductor start-up called IndieSemiC made headlines at Semicon India 2025, Delhi, by launching India’s first IoT Evolution Board with Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The product comes from a partnership between the startup and C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing). It uses a homegrown VEGA processor and supports Bluetooth and LoRa.
The board has a wide range of applications in critical infrastructure and industries like smart cities, industrial automation, healthcare, defence, and drone platforms. It is the company’s first entry in the system-level products space. By providing ready-made compute and connectivity, it shortens development cycles and lowers dependence on foreign components, while enabling enterprises to implement secure systems.
The company founded in 2023 might be a recent entrant, but is already focused on domains like drones and automotive electronics, while also producing certified radio-frequency (RF) modules. It has managed to gain traction really quickly within India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and has a substantial customer base and product portfolio. This launch ties to India’s larger ambition of achieving self-reliance in critical tech while also meeting international benchmarks.
