Arm Semiconductor Company Plans to Expand in India

British semiconductor technology company Arm is reportedly considering an expansion in Bengaluru, according to a hint provided by a company executive during the CII International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in New Delhi. Peter Stephens, director of government relations at Arm indicated that the Bengaluru presence may grow further, though details remain unconfirmed. The company headquartered in Cambridge, UK, currently employs about 2000 professionals in Bengaluru.

Stephens also explained that Arm is in the process of acquiring a new building to accommodate further growth in Bengaluru. He noted that many modern smartphones benefit from the combined expertise of teams in both Cambridge and Bengaluru, where design and verification work take place. This potential expansion underscores the importance of Bengaluru as a key hub for semiconductor innovation and technology development.

Peter Stephens, who also chairs the UK-India Tech Forum emphasized the forum’s role in bridging the technology ecosystems of the United Kingdom and India. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration across artificial intelligence, quantum computing, telecommunications and biotechnology. While the report of a second Bengaluru office is only a hint at this time, it reflects a broader trend toward international cooperation in high-tech industries.
