Arduino has launched its Made-in-India UNO Ek R4 WiFi and UNO Ek R4 Minima boards to celebrate India’s Republic Day. These boards were manufactured under the “Make in India” initiative, highlighting India’s growing role in technological innovation. They were first presented at the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos to key Indian government leaders including Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and Shri Jayant Chaudhary. The launch represents a significant step towards advancing local manufacturing capabilities and strengthening the maker community.

The term “Ek” meaning “one” in Hindi reflects the simplicity, unity and foundational role of the boards in electronics projects. Both boards integrate advanced features including a powerful 32-bit RA4M1 microcontroller offering advanced connectivity, speed and performance. While the UNO Ek R4 WiFi supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for IoT applications, the UNO Ek R4 Minima provides essential features suitable for beginners and prototype developers.

This initiative aligns with India’s vision of becoming a global technology hub. Arduino IDE statistics reveal India is the second-largest user base, highlighting the country’s thriving maker and innovation ecosystem. Domestically manufactured boards offer faster delivery, affordable pricing and eco-friendly production methods ensuring accessibility for Indian users. The boards are ethically produced under sustainable manufacturing practices using eco-friendly packaging and certifications such as SA8000 and FSC. Additionally, dedicated local support is available to enhance the experience for innovators and educators.

CEO - Fabio Violante and SVP - Guneet Bedi of Arduino have emphasized India’s immense potential in technology and STEM education. By manufacturing in India, Arduino aims to promote open-source innovation and collaboration. The boards are expected to drive adoption of connected devices and support makers, students and professionals. These Made-in-India products will be distributed through Arduino's authorized distributors in India, further reinforcing the nation’s role as a global technology leader.
