Our aim is to move to renewable energy and reduce the energy consumption.
Everyone needs energy and everyone is getting it from somewhere, generally from grids which are based on conventional energy sources and people really wants to switch to non conventional source of energy but there is a problem first they must know how much load they are using so they can get an estimate, it was easier to find in past but in this technological age due to many devices it's getting hard to find the actual energy consumption, but there is a catch we have meters to calculate energy uses per month. So what's need, energy meters tell the kWh consumed per month but not power (advanced meters tell but normal household meters doesn't tell, actually they also tell but in the form of a blinking light eg 3200 imp per kWh). So we can use a microcontroller to read the blinking speed and using some mathematical formula we can get the power uses in watt.

I will make a device that can be sticked to normal meter and it will read the blinking speed and then it will convert it in power (Watts)

Why we need a power meter.
Let's take a simple example normal induction fan takes around 60 watts of energy as advertised. But after some days of uses due to dusts on blades it disturbs the aerodynamics so the power consumption increases to 100 watts and air throw is also reduced. If we have a power meter we will know it instantly.

Project:
Take blinking led reading from meter convert it in mathematical output.
