Integrated Device Technology released new MicroClock family of clock generators, which are optimized for small, battery-powered devices, such as hearables, smart watches, portable medical equipment, fitness monitors and devices connected to the Internet of Things (IoT). The combined features such as a small form factor, low power consumption and programmability makes it ideal for these products and ultra-small size of 2 mm x 2 mm in combination with the ability to output up to three unique frequencies reduces the board space needed for timing devices by up to 80 percent. This key advantage for small, battery-powered devices, enable product designers to increase battery size or shrink the overall size of the product.
The three unique frequency outputs of MicroClock family reduces board space requirements by eliminating the need for multiple, discrete crystal oscillators, as well as providing a more reliable clock source. The low-power 32.768 kHz clock that supports system Real Time Clock (RTC) needs help it to achieve low power consumption less than 1 μA. This low power consumption maximizes battery life which makes it ideal for smart wearables and other consumer devices as they can operate longer between charges. The Low power feature also helps it to be a first choice in the applications such as industrial and other applications that operate where electrical power is unavailable, IoT-connected sensors used in smart city.
The MicroClock devices comes with exceptional programmability which help it to easily be configured to meet the specific requirements of each application.
