Pursuing local production of laptops for the Indian market, Mumbai-based Syrma SGS Technology has announced a strategic partnership with Japan’s Dynabook Singapore Pte Ltd. This collaboration aims at strengthening the country’s production capacity at home and supporting the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Dynabook has remained a dominant commercial PC brand, having endured over the years, with origins dating back to the first laptop released in 1985. The partnership will see Syrma SGS produce Dynabook’s portfolio of laptops designed for business use and government customers across India. Syrma SGS brings over four decades of experience in IT hardware manufacturing, including components like memory modules, solid-state drives, motherboards, and full system integration. The company currently operates numerous manufacturing facilities across India and holds Production Linked Incentive approval from the Indian government.
Satendra Singh, CEO of Syrma SGS Technology, described the partnership as “a moment of pride”, underscoring the prospect of expanding domestic laptop manufacturing capabilities. Wong Wai Meng, Managing Director of Dynabook Singapore, believes that local manufacturing will create opportunities to enhance support for diverse customers across startups, enterprises, and government sectors.
This is Syrma SGS’s second global brand partnership secured in the current fiscal year, reinforcing its standing as an important figure in India’s evolving electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The shared vision is to leave Indian customers with more choices, particularly in the enterprise laptop segment.
