Maxim Integrated introduced a new robust and reliable 5kVRMS four-channel reinforced digital isolator MAX22445 to facilitate equipment designers a better choice to protect industrial systems from the dangers of high-voltage signals. With delivering up to 2x greater throughput at 4x lower power consumption versus competing solutions, the MAX22445 offers a reliable communication across the isolation barrier to ensure safe operation of compact industrial, medical and other equipment.
Digital isolators are used in high voltage equipments for signal isolation and level-shifting in order to ensure proper functioning of many circuits, while protecting users from high voltage dangers such as electric shock. However they consume a large amount of power, produce heat and cause large propagation delays, thus limiting the system reliability and throughput. The MAX22445, in an effort to address these limitations, delivers reinforced, dual insulation barrier isolation for fast digital signals; moreover, it transfer signals of up to 200Mbps with significantly less power consumption. MAX22445 is available in a 16-pin wide-body SOIC package with 8mm of creepage and clearance.
Low Power: The MAX22445 IC consumes 0.41mA per channel current and 0.74mW power at 1Mbps with VDD at 1.8V. The IC offers 4x lower power consumption compared to competing solutions while also reducing heat generation and enabling reliable and compact designs.
High Speed: With maximum propagation delay of 10.5ns and maximum data rate of 200Mbps, the IC enables fast and accurate data acquisition and high-speed interfaces with wide timing margins. It delivers up to 2x greater throughput comparing other available solutions.
Robust and Reliable: Dual barriers of isolation provide 5kVRMS and 10kV surge for reliable performance over a long product life time and meet the safety standards required for operator protection.
