Commercial Underwater Drone - EyeROV TUNA

An important milestone for India’s deep tech industry has been achieved by maritime robotic startup EyeROV, which raised Rupees 10 crore (about USD 1.2 million) in a Pre-Series A Funding round led by Kochouseph Chittilappilly, founder of V-Guard and Wonderla Group of Companies. Unicorn India Ventures organized the fundraising round.

EyeROV is a Kochi-based maritime and AI robotics firm, founded in 2016 by IIT alumni Johns T Mathai and Kannappa Palaniappan P. The key focus of the firm is manufacturing Remotely Operated Vehicles and providing Underwater Inspections Services. It has received funding under the Technology Development Fund (TDF) scheme to develop a long-range Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV). This development comes as EyeROV signs a significant agreement with the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO).

The EyeROV TUNA, India's first commercial underwater drone, was introduced by EyeROV. It is mainly focused on the development of both hardware and software for underwater robotic systems. All of these systems give users the ability to effectively observe the undersea environment, gather high-quality data, and process it all to produce insights to make informed decisions. When it comes to the structural integrity examination of vital infrastructures, EyeROV serves as a technology enabler. EyeROV TUNA completed more than a thousand underwater inspection hours on dams, bridges, oil pipelines, and other structures.

EyeROV has introduced the first commercial underwater drones/ROVs in India intended for visual underwater ship hull inspections, dam inspections, and search and rescue missions. It also developed Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV), offering solutions in both India and the MENA region. Along with its exceptional skills for inspecting extremely long pipelines and tunnels, EyeROV also boasts sophisticated integration capabilities for customized payloads.

With this funding, EyeROV will be able to expand its reach into international markets and create cutting-edge marine robotics products and solutions to enhance its current workings. With its advanced unmanned technologies, the organization intends to transform the energy, maritime, defense, and infrastructure sectors.
