Karnataka’s Industries Minister, MB Patil, has called on the Central Government to adopt a more inclusive approach to industrial development, particularly emphasizing the state's readiness to lead in semiconductor manufacturing. Patil highlighted that Karnataka’s strong infrastructure, skilled workforce and advanced research capabilities position it as the ideal destination for semiconductor plants. He confidently stated, "Karnataka is second to none" underlining the state's strengths in resources, talent and technological expertise.
Patil’s explanations are part of the state’s ongoing efforts to attract significant investment in the rapidly expanding semiconductor sector. He assured that Karnataka is prepared to offer comprehensive support and incentives to companies interested in establishing semiconductor operations. The minister also pointed out that Karnataka not only serves as a hub for semiconductor chip designs but also home for a thriving Research and Development (R&D) ecosystem, making it an attractive location for the industry.
As the state continues to advance its plans, Patil revealed that the government is preparing to announce a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening industrial growth, with a focus on semiconductor manufacturing, ahead of the Global Investors Meet (GIM) 2025. These efforts come as Karnataka seeks to revive its hindered semiconductor plant project in Mysuru, which has faced delays. Patil made it clear that Karnataka is committed to ensuring its leadership in the semiconductor sector, determined not to lag behind as other states progress with their semiconductor initiatives.
