In a virtual meeting, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Ambassador of India to the United States, had a discussion with Intel’s CEO Lip-Bu Tan about how the company intends to scale its presence in the Indian semiconductor and AI space. The meeting aligns very closely with India’s push towards domestic chip production and AI infrastructure through initiatives such as the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) and IndiaAI Mission.
Vinay shared on his X handle, “Had the pleasure to interact with Mr. Lip Bu Tan, CEO of INTEL to discuss INTEL's initiatives and plans for India operations in coordination with the Government's goal to develop semiconductor and AI industry in India under the aegis of India Semiconductor Mission and India AI Mission.” The continued interest that Intel has shown in India’s tech ecosystem surely reflects confidence in the country’s capabilities and could pave the way for new investments, job creation, and innovation.
This comes right on the heels of the India-hosted AI Impact Summit 2026 to be held in New Delhi. The goal of the summit is to advance AI development that’s inclusive, responsible, and people-centric.
