The Renesas Electronics Corporation has announced that they are ready to ship the sample of the new RYZ012 Bluetooth module that has been designed especially for the ultra-low-power IoT applications. As the Renesas’ first Bluetooth low energy 5 modules, RYZ012 integrates a 2.4 GHz RF transceiver supporting the IEEE802.15.4 multi-standard wireless protocol, Bluetooth Low Energy (LE), Bluetooth LE Mesh, and ZigBee.
The RYZ012 has been designed with a power draw of only 0.4µA during deep sleep (without SRAM retention) for providing an extended battery life. With its battery monitor feature, it measures the battery capacity and detects low power in battery-operated devices.
The RYZ012 is supported by the 2.4GHz IoT standards without the need for any external DSP, this reduced the number of external components required and the overall cost in the system integrations. The RYZ012 module consists of a 32-bit microcontroller with an integrated 512kB flash memory and 64kB SRAM for application support. The RYZ012 can be ordered with and without an integrated antenna for providing flexibility and option for longer wireless range requirements.
