The Andhra Pradesh Drone Policy aims to attract ₹1000 crore in investments, generate ₹3,000 crore in revenue and establish 100 companies. It targets training 25000 pilots, creating 40000 jobs, with ₹500 crore allocated for implementation.
The Andhra Pradesh cabinet has approved policies to drive growth in the state’s drone and semiconductor industries, aiming to attract substantial investments and create large-scale employment. The Andhra Pradesh Drone Policy seeks to bring in over ₹1000 crore in investments while building a sustainable ecosystem projected to generate ₹3000 crore in revenue over the next five years. This policy aims to establish at least 100 companies engaged in drone manufacturing, research and development, pilot training and related services. The state has allocated ₹500 crore for implementing this policy and developing essential infrastructure.
Fundamental to the policy is the establishment of a “Drone City” on 300 acres in Orvakal, Kurnool district. This dedicated zone will provide facilities for research, development, manufacturing and testing, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a prominent drone technology hub in India. Additionally, the policy targets the creation of 20 drone pilot training organizations and 50 skill development centers across engineering and technical institutes, with plans to train 25000 drone pilots and generate approximately 40000 jobs, covering both direct and indirect employment.
The cabinet also approved the Andhra Pradesh Semiconductor and Display Fab Policy, intended to accelerate semiconductor manufacturing between 2024 and 2029. This policy aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a competitive state for semiconductor investment, with the state government providing financial support and incentives to attract both domestic and international companies. These measures align Andhra Pradesh with other states, such as Gujarat and Karnataka, that have established themselves as leading destinations for semiconductor production. Through these strategic initiatives, Andhra Pradesh aims to strengthen its role in India’s technology and manufacturing landscape, contributing to economic growth, job creation and the country’s vision of self-reliance in advanced technology sectors.
