Howdy. I'm building a chicken coop, and I'd like to set up the coop door to open and close remotely. I've pretty much decided to use an automobile power window window assembly since I can get it cheaper and easier than buying a stepper motor, and rigging the assembly. I want to connect a power window type switch to a remote control so I can open and close the door from the house.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, and suggest the parts I'll need, and how to tie them together, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm a complete novice, but I learn quickly, and if I can get this set up, I have other projects I may persue.
Thanks.
Arduino and RF module is the best choice. But what is the spec of your stepper motor?
I haven't purchased one yet. I was actually planning to get one from a junk yard, so I won't know any specs until then. It will be a typical 12v window motor, which I plan to connect to a converter plugged into a wall socket, if that helps.
Once I find out just how complicated, or expensive, it will be, and I decide to go through with the project (which I expect to), I'll of course buy the motor assembly first, and start ordering other parts based on that.
The driver circuit is directly depends on the controllable product. I think you should calculate the motor specification first then the driver and additional things.
Actually finding the motor is the hardest part of your project.
Finding driver without knowing your car is a wrong process I think.

PermalinkHi Jim, You can make it using Arduino and RF wireless Remote. For this you can use RF transmitter and Receiver for wireless communication, and in the receiver side you can drive the power window motor using Two relays.i.e one for forward and other for reverse.
