Connecting plug to vintage amplifier

Submitted by Thomas on Thu, 01/28/2021 - 21:41

Hi... I bought an amp for my turntable from an auction but they've cut the power lead as it wasn't tested. My question is, can I fit a standard UK plug onto an old two wire lead?  What about the earth? Think amp is early 70's. Not very knowledgeable on electronics so any help appreciated. Have a photo but couldn't upload it

Thanks

Kindly try to upload the image. Is it tube amplifier?

Thanks for your reply. I don't think it is valve. I've uploaded a picture but it didn't come out as expected on this site, but I think you'll get the idea. The amp is a Sansui AU-101

many thanks

Solution 1 : Open the cover. You will find a Black color Transformer. Follow the AC cable line and just solder the new wire.

Solution 2 : Use a Female receptacle and just make the wiring of the AC cord section.

If you are unable to do it, any electrician will do this.

It does not required earthing. There is a reason for that. It uses Isolated topology in Input AC due to the Transformer based input.
