MPPT Solor Controller 10W

I have read this article and the video tells me that I can find a link that explains the configuration of 1P 2P 3P etc but I cannot see a link on the video. Can you tell me how to get this information.

thank you

Lt3652 uses special pin along with resistor dividers to be configured battery selection related modes.

You can find ot easily on the datasheet.

Thank you. I have two further questions.

1. C2 is shown in the circuit diagram as a non- electrolytic capacitor with an SMD footprint. The photos of the circuit shows an electrolytic capacitor and through hole. Can you advise what I need for C2 including uF?

2. The through hole resistor at R-SEN. What value of ohms and voltage and type is this ?

Sorry, on my last Question it says C2 but it should read C1

C2 is a timing capacitor that used for charge timing. It depends on the formula. You can use electrolytic or smd based mlcc...does not matter.

For the R-SEN i have used two smd and one TH. This is making a parallel low value resistance. As far as I remember it is 0.47 ohms with 0.33ohms smd ... The equivalent resistance some what close to 0.1 ohms (not accurate). Chose the resistance to find out the charge current.

Sorry but I actually meant C1 not C2.

Can you advise why you used an electrolytic TH for C1 rather than a non-electrolytic smd?

I used it due to the availibility of the compnents in my locality. Thanks.

Question on R-SEN resistance. I have followed the values for R5 and R6 as per the circuit diagram as follows:

The current sense resistor in the schematic is selected 0.5 Ohms and 0.22 Ohms which is in parallel creates 0.15 Ohms. Using the above formula, it will produce almost 0.66A of charge current.

I assume that the photos have the same values. I understand that if I added another parallel resistor at R-SEN it would decrease the resistance and increase the charging current.

So I am confused on your previous reply about R-SEN where you have used  0.47 ohms with 0.33ohms smd. The photos also show an additional resistor added at R-SEN which is through hole.

Can  you confirm exactly what you used for  parallel resistors?

Also I am assuming that all resistors in the total R-SEN resistance are current sensor resistors..  an you please confirm?

Thanks

Ian

Can you  also confirm that I can use this MPPT charger to charge the battery here:

Wltoys 2 Pack 7.4V 850mAh Li-Po Battery

This has two connectors

A.  Normal battery Plus and Negative

B. 3 lead battery management balancer 3 wire (2 cell)

Do I  charge using option A or do I need to use option B and charge individual cells(2)?

A brilliant little device that boasts compatibility, simplicity, and a utilitarian understanding of solar panels, batteries, and loads: it is included in most of our small and medium sized kits.10A PWM controller (PU1024B)

As it uses PWM technology, the amount of current and voltage that is lost between the panel and the battery is reduced to next to nothing. It can prolong battery life and also protect it from overcharging, undercharging, short circuiting, and overheating.

This charge controller does not have to be used solely on one panel and one battery; a 10A PWM controller cab be used to regulate the charge of an array of solar panels connected in parallel with a total power of 160W. If you were to get a 20A PWM controller, you would be able to regulate a solar panel bank of up to 320W for 12V batteries, and 640W for 24V batteries. The PWM controller can also be used to connect solar panels to a battery bank of 12V batteries, provided that the batteries are the same size and that they are in good condition.

Olivia

Why are you on this post thread? I am still waiting on a response to my last 2 questions on MPPT charge controller.

Ok I give up trying to get information that I requested. Very disappointed that the support for this project is not there. I will try and avoid projects from this site

Hello Ian.

I am extremly sorry for the late reply.

In respect of the first question about RSEN resistor, I do not have information right now because it was done a long ago and I do not have the board. Based on the calculation ou are right. There was a 0.47 Ohms resistor which was a through hole one. The other parallel resistor was 0.33 Ohms maybe. However, since both are 5% tolarence the accurate resistance is somewhat drifted. Based on the datasheet please choose the correct value for your required current, make sure to use 1% tolarence.

For the second question -

Normally the solar controller charge three pin battery (+, - and NTC). It does not matter if you have 3.7V single cell or 7.4V. Select the battery depending on the configuration you set on the driver.

In India, people sell 2S battery without the gurrenty whether the cells are balanced or not.
