I think it's called a choke, or inductor.

I'm looking for a replacement.

It's out of a Whirlpool washing machine I'm playing with.

Checked around here and no one has any.

Any kind of replacement for it????

Hate to have to order just this one.

In your picture, I can identify a broken led as the problem, if it was me I would rip the insulation off, pull out a little bit of wire and then I would re-insulate it with some Shrink tube or Kapton tape.

The above-mentioned process will change the inductance value a bit so do not apply this method if you found this inductor other than the Power Section.

I thought it was another bad cap, so I tried to take it out, and the lead came off.

I'm guessing these have different vaules. How is it measures and what should I be looking for???

Any idea what this one is????

The picture is still to big.   I have it's sized small, but it still came out big.   What am I doing wrong????

First of all its is an inductor, inductors have different values and you need an LCR meter to measure the inductance..

And by the looks, it definitely is from the power section and it's used to forms a PI Filter. So a little change in the inductance value will not matter much.

The circuit uses Differential mode choke for EMI reduction across the Transformer input.

The value is 1mH and the ceremic Y capacitor is directly proportional with this value.

Since it is a consumer grade electronics product and it is used in house hold appliances,  the EMI intregration meets the government norms. It is wiser to change the inductor and puurchase it from the vendors.

I am not sure about the current rating, generally it should be 180mA rated, 1 mH common mode choke.

You could not get exact inductance of such chokes in LCR meter unless it is specified in a stable frequency that is the measure value of EMI inductor. For example 1mH at 10 Khz is can be accurately measured in an LCR meter if the continuation frequency is 10 Khz.

However, it may work with other value but not recomended. Because, maybe, in your country stipulated EMI are calculated and monitored in realtime and thus it could create faults and other complexit.

What does the PM 102K stand for????

Part number, rating, somekind of referance????

PM is most probobally the short name of the manufacturer and 102K is the value.

You can check out the part number given below.

I looked and there are a bunch of 102k.

I'm guessing there must be somekind of differenve between them.

I found one on a scrap board.

This one has no markings at all.

I think I'lll just try it.
