Hi everyone. First post here and in need of a bit of help. I want a simple Push on Push off circuit using only 1 switch that will work with a power input of between 12 and 15 volts. I don't mind doing this on a PCB or breadboard as I do want to put the components into a small box and the switch attached to it. This is for a motorcycle and want something that will handle 12 volts but be able to survive if ever the power spiked up to nearly 15 volts from a failed component on the bike itself. I am no stranger to wiring or electrical but I am not too great at reading PCB diagrams and also I am not familiar with using resisters etc. I can solder, but as a lot of you can imagine although some of the skills are the same to wiring a motorcycle the work isn't. If any of you guys can help me I'd be very grateful.

Thats great information thank you very much! I will definately test that circuit out and I think for safe measure anyway I will put a relay on it also.

PermalinkWhat you are looking for is a soft latch circuit. It uses simple tansistor combination to turn on/off a load using single push button. The circuit and more detials can be found here

I think the transistors used here can withstand about 12V, if you need more than that you might have to upgrade them. Also you have not mentioned the current rating of you load. If it is high you would have to use an relay in place of the LED in the circuit to turn on/off your load.
