Which power converter?

Submitted by SndChsr on

Hello all,

I have a question which I hope can be answered here. I have an expensive Nikon slide scanner, with the following power requirements:

AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz

I live in Canada, so I'm on the 110V current. I will be traveling to Europe this summer and I want take the scanner with me to scan some old family slides which still remain there.

Can someone point me to a voltage converter which I would bring with me so I don't kill the thing? There are plenty on Amazon, but I'm not sure which one is overkill or underpowered. I'll be traveling to a country with a current of 230 V50 Hz. So I need to step up from 110 to 230. Just not sure about the wattage/Hz stuff.

Many thanks for the help!

Hi SndChsr,

All electronics products of these days are rated for 100-240V 50/60Hz so that they can be sold and used all over th world be it canada that operates on 110V 60Hz or India/Europe that operates in 230V 50Hz. So dont worry you scanner will work fine.

What you might want to check is the socket compactability, the country you are travelling to might have a different AC socket that from Canada. So make sure you get a socket converter. Again it should be easily available and a cheapo will work fine

Than you Aswinth,

From the manufacturer's website:

So does this mean, all I need is just a different cable that plugs into the local socket? (I'm traveling to Poland and they have the round type prongs).

I just noticed the 100-240 spec. I was under the assumption that it was 240V only. I would assume then that I can plug it directly into the wall, assuming I have the correct cable right?

Thank you for your help.

Just get the right type of converters for Poland and you are all good to go. Just plug it directly into the socket there and o[perate the machine, you will have no problems with that.,
