Hey, I’m having a problem with my cameras on my ROV going black. When ever the motors would thrust up, my camera feed would go black, to solve this problem, I bought 2 super capacitors each 1 farad at 12 volts as well as a SCS206AG diode. I connected the diode in series and the capacitors in parallel but I’m getting only 5 volts at the end. Everything is designed to run on 12 volt power supply. I’m new when dealing with capacitors and don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Any help would be great.

PermalinkIt would have been better if you have provided more information on these. Like what motor are you using, did you check its inital peak current value? will be connected to load during start-up? What is the continous current?
After knowing this make sure your Super cap can source enough current for the motor to start-up. Also try the set-up will a small load or no load initial to notice voltage change. Are you using a multimeter to measure the voltage values? If yes then may be the voltage spikes are two fast for your meter to capture. so try using a scope.
