Hi I'm trying to connect a old sewing machine foot pedal/speed control to a little converted air compressor for my engraver,, but not sure how the wiring goes? Got 2 sets of wires coming out of foot pedal one set has 3 wires and the other has 2?

If it has two wires only then it is mostly like a simply switch. Use your multimeter to check for continuity.
Similarly for three wires it should be something like a SPDT switch. Again the best way to confrim is to use your multimeter.
