I would like to repurpose an inexpensive (IPX5 55 lumen) solar-powered landscape light to power an IoT esp32-based field sensor, eg, soil moisture.
The esp32 would remain in Deep Sleep mode, periodically waking up to take sensor measurements or upload to a mqtt server.
It would have to work during daylight hours.
How to do this and what other things do I need to consider?
I ask because my brother-in-law 'electronics expert' told me it couldn't be done.
Seems straight-forward to me since I am just replacing one load with a lower load.
