newbie question

hi. I am a simple welder with very little experience in this field. I'm not sure what it is I am even looking for or if it even exists, but I feel that someone that knows something about coding or circuits would be able to help. I'm attempting to help my son build something for one of his toys, maybe a circuit board that when a laser sensor is triggered it makes a positive currant flow only while the laser sensor is active then off once its off, then when it turns on again the polarity or the power is reversed and then keeps switching over and over. So, for example when the door opens the toy goes off in one direction then stops when the door shuts, then when the door opens again it comes back the other way until the door shuts and so on and so on... thank you for any help
