current amplification from 1A to 2A

Hi, i am designing a basic phone charger of 5 V 2A using 7805 regulator. but i m getting only 1A , how can i increase the current output to 2A using 7805.

please suggest.

7805 supports only 1A highest.
Try to use a linear 5V regulator with 2A of rating. Make sure to use a heatsink.

Hi..actually 7805 is made for 1 AMP output current max. For 2 AMP, you can go for L78S05CV regulators having 5V, 2 AMP current specifications.
