Texas Instruments Introduces Smallest Amplifier

TI's new operational amplifier and comparators reduce overall system footprint in IoT, personal electronics, and industrial applications

Texas Instruments introduced the industry’s smallest op-amp and low power comparators at 0.64 mm2. Manufactured in compact X2SON package, the TLV9061 op-amp and TLV7011 family of comparators allows designers to reduce their system cost and size, with having high performance in the field of Internet of Things (IoT), electronics and industrial application, inclusive of smartphones, wearables, optical modules, motor drives, smart grid and battery-based systems.

The TLV9061 op-amp is designed for high-performance systems, comes with high gain bandwidth (10MHz), fast slew rate (6.5 V/µs) and low-noise spectral density of 10 nV/√Hz. The TLV7011 family of Nano-power comparators supplies a faster response time with propagation delays to 260 ns, with half the consumption of power than the competitive comparators. Both the devices support rail-to-rail inputs, with the low operating voltage of 1.8v. Easy to use with the battery-powered application.

TLV9061 operational amplifier

  • Compact system size and cost: Apart from this, it has an integrated feature of EMI filtering inputs, which helps in getting high performance for systems subjected to RF noise, while especially reducing the need for external circuitry.
  • Prominent DC accuracy: Twice the lower offset drift and typical input bias across a full temperature range of -40 to 125 °C, which results to accurate signal chain solution compared to other small devices.

TLV7011 family of comparators

  • Tiny size, additional features: No phase reversal and integrated internal hysteresis for utilized inputs increase design flexibility and also decrease the need for other external components.
  • 50% low power consumption: It has a fast propagation delay of 260ns with low power as 335nA, used to monitor signals and respond quickly.

The dimension of the 5-pin extra small outline no-lead (X2SON) package is 0.8 mm x 0.8 mm x 0.4 mm. Some electrical characteristics are given below in table:
