This project is based on my parsonal experience about human safety improvement for domestic, Commercial , industrial & heavy automobile vehicles. More specific in industrial automobile equipment which are huge bulky and operator didn't have vision of each and every corner of machine & humans are usually working arround these equipment. During reverse operation side mirrors are having lots of blind spots which is accident pron zone.
Lot's of serious accident recorded across the globe where fatal or serious accident occurred during reverse travel of equipment. We also seen such type of incidents in school bus/van.
Solution: Image based human presence detection system installation at back side of vehicle, in case of big machine multiple camera can installed to cover all dark spot.
A>Edge AI based algorithm can be used to detect person presence on the edge device instead of sending data to cloud. This approach improves frame rates and inference speed.
B>Integration of edge device which equipment control system to check whether equipment is in reverse mode or not.
C> If equipment is in reverse mode and human is presence then trigger an output to stop reverse motion &/or slowdown the equipment &/or Generate audible alarm for driver in driver cabin & for person present in backside of equipment.
C> Distance of detected person from vehicle also calculate (not accute) but it can use weather Stop the reverse function or slowdown or only alarm generation. This step is optional based on actual performance of system.
D>Multiple edge device can installed and integrated with each other using wifi mesh network techniques using Esp8266 or 32 based chips.
